Continued from page ID by McHoul, and several have criticized Morris performance as chairman on other occasions. There were several sharp attacks at the Wednesday meeting.

"It seems to me this commission is Victor Morris, and that's it," said commission member Angel Cabal lero. "We don't have an organization here you're handling things personally, and that's not the way these things should work." Commission member Marilyn Ve trano observed that county lawmakers passed a resolution this summer directing the commission to elect a chairman immediately, but the group has not complied. "I'm fairly new to this group but you've been two years getting to this point and you haven't done anything yet," she said. Morris, furious at her comment, gave a long history of the commission history and investigation work to date. And after the meeting, he said the recent publicity surrounding the commission has had at least one good result.

"I'm pleased that although it came from controversy, most people now know that there is a Human Rights Commission," he said. Beekman supervisor digs in to new job Continued from page IB "There are always a few who want to stop development, who take a pull up the ladder now that I'm here approach. I don't think that's morally right. You have to look at things realistically." "My goal is to provide the leadership necessary to support the orderly growth of the town, and to do that, we must take a hard look at the master plan, especially in areas like density." Dankleman said he is ready to take heat for unpopular decisions when those decisions are right and lead to the improved welfare of the townspeople. "If I get both factions mad I figure I'm doing a halfway decent job," he said with a smile.

Dankleman said that, judging from input he has heard from planners, he prefers the cluster method of development over the cookie cuttercutter style, where houses are built one another on single acre lots. He also stressed a need to address the town's landfill problem, possible improvements in the highway department, and discussion of increasing recreation facilities for the many new residents expected to populate the town's proposed developments.
