His wife, Ruth, predeceased him. Mr. Eckert Is survived by a daughter, E. A. Atha of Little Rock, a brother, Charles Poughkeepsie, a sister, Mrs.

Bartles candidacy for county executive. Babiarz said, "I believe to the primary and I believe that when a member is seeking consent to run in a primary he should be given that right." Bartles won a G.O.P. primary in September.

Babiarz, who moved back to Poughkeepsie this year after having resided in Kingston for several years, sought the consent of the GO.P. city committee to run in that party's mayoral primary. The city committee declined and Babiarz is now running for mayor on the Independent Peace party ticket. Babiarz also announced his support for Alderman Columbus Stanley, 5th Ward, who is seeking re election. He said Stanley "has done a wonderful job."
