2C Pbmjhkptl Joumot Sunday, Fabruory 26, 1984 Jay, Arlington finish 2, 3 at West Point meet WEST POINT The real battle In the Section One Clan A boy winter track championships Friday night was not for first place, but for second. While New Rochelle High School easily took the crown with 19 points. John Jay, Arlington and White Plains were left In a scuffle for runnerup. While the latter two duked It out in the running competition, John Jay sparkled In the field evenu to win the battle with 65 points. The Admirals finished third with 60, and White Plains had SI.

Roy C. Ketcham took sixth place with points, and, Roose SECTION ONE TRACK veil was Seventh with 17. The meet was at the U.S. Military Academy Field House. In addition to Mike Yellen's win In the Urometer run for John Jay, the Patriots wpn three of the five field evenu.

John Dorney did top Job for the Patriots, placing first in the long Jump, fourth In the triple Jump and fifth In the SMiigh hurdles. The high Jump was won by Jay's Fred Csassar, while Arlington's John Chrysler took second. John Jay's Mike Mason, a Junior, won the shot put with a toss of SI feet 10 lnches. "That kid Is super," said Jay coach Jim Williams. "He broke his own record for the third time this year." His previous school, record was 51 C.J.

Hunter of Roosevelt took second and Jay'a Dennis Gaddonniex was fourth In that event. In the pole vault, Steve Lambert took sec ond place for John Jay, ahead of Ketcham's Jim Timms. The only other team with four wins was New Rochelle. White Plains had two wins. Arlington collected a bundle of seconds In the running events.
