Photo taken -in 1959 of airline hostess Annie Labzine as reincarnation of 18th-dynasty Egyptain Queen Nefertiti recently was judged by 'Public Re- Dutchess College Paper Accorded Honor Rating "The Spectator," newspaper at Dutchess Community College, has been awarded a "First Class Honor Rating" by the Associated Collegiate Press and the National Student Press, Association. The newspaper series for the fall semester 1970-71 was in competition with student newspapers from two and four year colleges throughout the nation. The Associated Collegiate and the National Student Press Association (ACP-NSPA) are administered by the University of Minnesota, and annually sponsor an awards competition for student journalists. The first class honor rating awarded to "'The Spectator" is the highest rating a student newspaper can receive on the point system evaluation used by ACP-NSPA. Co editors for the fall series of bi-monthly issues which achieved the distinction were Michael Breen and Karen Gumble, both Poughkeepsie residents.

Newspapers from colleges and universities were judged according to five major teria: coverage and content; writing and editing; editorial leadership; physical appearlance; and photography. In its appraisal of the series lof newspapers, ACP-NSPA told the Dutchess students that the issues "were: analyzed and rated lications in produced comparison with schools pubin of approximately the same enrollment, by similar printing methand frequency of issue. The rating a paper receives is intended to show how it compares with other newspapers in its classification throughout the nation. "A paper 'is judged in comparison with other school papers not in comparison with some mythical ideal, perfect publication or metropolitan papwhose purposes and techniques differ in many respects from scholastic publications." The 1971 award to the Dutchess student newspaper marks the third time the newspaper has been cited as a national winner. by ACP-NSPA.

Students assisting in the pub- Meminger Leads Midwest Cagers In All-star Classic HONOLULU (AP) Dean Meminger of Marquette University, top draft choice of the New York Knicks, scored 35 points to lead the Midwest team to a 97-95 basketball victory over the South in the second game of the opening round of the Aloha Classic Thursday night. The West won the opening of the doubleheader 114-89 lover the East. The Midwest gained a 16-point advantage at 76-60 but the South came on strong in' the last part of the game on the shooting of Dick Gibbs of Texas-El Paso and Charlie Davis of Wake Forlest. With 46. seconds left, Gibbs scored on a layup to cut the Midwest advantage to 93.91, but Meminger put the game away on a layup with 19 seconds left.

Jeff Haliburton of Drake was the second high scorer with 24 points for the winners. Gibbs got 21 for the losers. Cliff Ray of Oklahoma pulled in 22 rebounds. Stan Love of Oregon scored 28 points in leading the West to its victory in the opener. Game scoring honors, howevwent Jarrett Durham of Duquesne University who scored 32.

Loewen came to this country in 1924 and had resided in the Town of Poughkeepsie the last three years. In New York City, in 1925, he married the former Ella, Neumann, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Loewen is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Corrado, Poughkeepsie; Mrs.

Mr. Elliott, a dairy farmer, had been a foreman for ster County Highway Department. He formerly served president -and vice president the Ulster County Grand Juror's Association, Kingston. Mr. Elliott had served on Board of Directors of the Empire Livestock Market, Blauvelt, and the former Grange League Federation of New Paltz.

He also was a member of the New. Paltz United Methodist Church and the Pomona State Granges. He had been filiated with the Plutarch Club for 35 years. Born May 8, 1898, he was son of William H. and Jennie (Ferguson) Elliott.

In 1916, West Park, he married the mer Agnes Ackert, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Elliott is survived by three sons, Chester Leslie G. and Elvin F. Elliott, a brother, Horace Elliott, two sisters, Mrs.

Born in Italy, May 3, 1894, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zagorini. He retired in 1943 from the DuPont Chemical of New Jersey. He moved to New Paltz from Arlington, N.J., 25 years communicant ago.

Mr. Zagorini was a of St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Zagorini is survived his wife, the former Josephine Lodi; two sons, Anthony and Charles Zagorini, both of New Paltz; two daughters, Mrs.

Formerly of Newark, N.J., Mrs. Porfirio had resided in Staatsburg the last 55 years. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Church, Staatsburg. Her husband, Michele Porfirio, died in August, 1964.

Porfirio Henry Earl Hetner, 73, of 217 Grand died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital. Prior to retiring eight ago, Mr. Hetner had been years ployed at the International Business Machines Corp. for 21 years.

He formerly had been an election inspector for the Eighth Ward in the City Poughkeepsie. Born Jan. 16, 1898, in Lycom-1 ing County, he was the son of Harry and Anna Hetner. He attended schools in Pennsylvania. Mr.

Hetner was member the IBM Seniors Club, the Men's Club of Friends Meeting and the First Baptist Church. Mr. Hetner is survived by his wife, the former Rebecca Ann Dow, and several cousins in Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Wesley Chapel, 11 N. Clinton Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Pitcher Mrs. Harold W. 73, of 550 Main died Thursday at the Albany Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, she was born 1898, the former Anna M.

Plenzig, daughter of Henry and Barbara (Breidenbach) Plenzig. She was former member the Community United Methodist Church. On June 16, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, she was married to Harold W. Pitcher, who survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs.
