Deputies Borchers and Dewey arrested Smith last Dec. 10 on a charge of impersonating a state game protector.

According to Sheriff Close, Smith was accused of wearing a game warden's protective coloration, or at lease a uniform that most people would take for the "real McCoy." Smith was a special deputy sheriff in Putnam. county from 1940 to 1943, and later was a special game protector whose warrant expired Nov. 30, 1954. St. John was associated with his brother, Michael St. John, in the operation of a photographic business here. He was a former member of the Cataract Steamer Co. Mr.
