They started the show and then a fire spread through the equipment closet The police said it was a planned fire Someone must have been trying to threaten Mum business Nancy being a detective got out her notebook and asked Mimi questions Mimi said that her great grand mother had hinted a hidden treasure existed and she died before she could give the details The person who was stealing the marionettes and vandalizing the building was looking for clues to the trea sure. The girls visited their suspect, Claude who was Mimi cousin and wanted her busi ness. Claude was still on their suspect list as well as Patrice, Mimis long lost friend who came to visit They went to Mum great grandmother's crypt and found a list of characters from the 'Hunchback of Notre Dame," it was a clue Caught In the act At a marionette fair they saw Claude steal a man onttte He was caught and sent to jail but Nancy had a feel ing something else was wrong So she gave Patrice a fake note to'give to Mimi that said the treasure was found Jf Patrice didn give Mum the letter she would also be a cul prit Patrice came alone and was sent to jail Nancy eventually found the treasure in Minus great grandmother's leather mari onette screen! The panels did match up and when Nancy was trying to fix it she pulled out the brass brads and there was a full manuscript of tho "I lunchback of Not re Dame" handwritten by Victor Hugo with sketchesl Nancy succeeded again.

I chose this book because it took place ui Pans and I love mysteries. Trying to the mystery first is always fun for me, especially the chal lenging ones that really make me think like this one did 1 never would have guessed that Patrice and Claude would betray Mimi.
