Carolyn Lane, 67, a former longtime restof Salt Point and a prizewinning author, and playwright, died Dec. 8 of cancer at the Uncas-onThames HospiStal, Norwich. Lane and her husband moved to Salt Point where resided Mre. Lane they Mre. Lane In 1985, they moved published eight chil10. plays, five of prizes; and numerous short stories and arlast book, an adaptation stories for adult readis forthcoming from in 1994. She Illustrated three of her books and designed the sets for five of her plays, as well as designing scenery for groups such as munity Children's Theater of Dutchess County.

Mrs. Lane's paintings, exhibited drawing, a and one-woman prints were, in show Poughkeepsie in 1964. She attended High School in Maplewood, N.J., where she was raised, and graduatedfrom Connecticut College in 1948 with a degree in art. She was born June 4, 1926, in R.I. In 1951, she married M.

Donald Lane Jr. who survives at home. Also surviving are a' son, Jay Lane of New Haven, Conn. A memorial service will be held Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
