JOURNAL FRIDAY OCTOBER 15, 2010 OBITUARIES 5B James Coppola EAST FISHKILLJames Coppola, a longtime resident of Yonkers, passed away on October 13, 2010 at his home in Hopewell Junc- tion. He was 91 years old. Mr. Coppola was born on October 4, 1919 and was the son of Francesco and Maria (DeAngelis) Coppola. He was one of nine children and grew up in New York City.

Mr. Coppola married the 1 late Ann (Keeley) Coppola in January, 1946 after proudly serving his country during World War Li as a soldier in the US Army. They had three children: a daughter, Ann Marie and twin sons, Frank and the late James. Mr. Coppola owned and operated Lehigh Oil Supply Company for over forty years and retired in the early 1990s.

In retirement, Mr. Coppola returned often to France where he had served during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was a longtime New York Mets fan and a pigeon and bowling enthusiast. Mr. Coppola was a parishioner of St.

Mary's in Mount Vernon and, more recently, a parishioner at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. Mr. Coppola is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie John DeNicholas of LaGrangeville; his son, Frank Coppola of Long Beach, CA; and his three grandchildren, Joseph DeNicholas and his wife, Susan of LaGrangeville, Kathleen (DeNicholas) Tavani and her husband, Andrew of Hoboken, NJ and James Coppola of Brooklyn. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren whom he adored, Blaec, Julia, Mason and Alexander.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St.

passed away peacefully on October 14, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Martin was a Veteran of W.W. II and a graduate of NYU Dental School. He moved to Poughkeepsie in 1954 with his family and practiced Dentistry for 50 years in the City of Poughkeepsie. Early in his career he worked at The Wiltwyck School for Boys in Esopus, N.Y.

He was a youth advisor and VicePresident of B'nai B'rith. He was a supporter of the Jewish Community Center, a member of Obed Lodge of the Masonic Order and a long time member of Vassar Temple. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Bernice and his adoring daughter Andrea. He is survived by his brother Bernard and sister-in-law His Children: Lewis Debbie Rabin, Fran Michael Iodice and Mara Richard Moskwiak. His Grandchildren: Brian, Daniel, Andrew, Alan, Brett, Meredith, Jackie, Chelsea and Heather.

His Great grandchildren: Dillon Josh. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Friday at Vassar Temple, 140 Hooker Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Rabbi Paul Golomb will officiate. Burial will follow in the family, plot in Vassar Temple Military Honors. The Family will sit Shiva their residence where they will share memories of Martin.

Elizabeth J. Jurkiw WINDSOR Elizabeth J. Jurkiw 54 passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Wilson Hospital. She is survived by her husband of thirty-five years John Jurkiw of Windsor, a sister Irma Maxian and a brother, Vincent Maxian both of Oregon, her mother-in-law, Stefania Jurkiw, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and her faithful companion, Latka. She was a self employed horticulturalist and avid home gardener.

Arts and crafts were another one of her passions. The family will receive friends Friday at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 11am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 72 Main Street, Binghamton with Deacon Barbara Hayden officiating. Inurnment will be at the convenience the family. Many people move in and out of our lives but only true friends leave footprints deep in your heart. On Sunday, October 10, 2010 we lost Donny Whitt who was such a loving father, cherished husband, caring son, brother and true friend. Donny Whitt, 48, resided in Pleasant Valley, NY. He was born on January 31,1962 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He graduated from LCCC with a HVAC degree.

He made his home in Pleasant Valley, NY with the love of his life, Sand Davis from Dallas, PA. He was employed for 26 years with IBM as a planner in Facilities Maintenance. Taken much too soon, he was a gentle man who truly loved to spend time with his wife and family and he was most proud of his children Daniel Ashleigh. He always told a great story. He enjoyed life, Harleys, working Chevys, bicycling, and spending time with his family friends.

Donny celebrated loudly whenever the Cowboys, Yankees Jeff Gordon won. Donny's smile and quick wit will be greatly missed. He is survived by his bride of 10 years, Sand Whitt. He is also survived by his son, Daniel Whitt of LaGrange and his daughter, Ashleigh Davis of South Carolina. He is the son of Marie (Evans) Whitt and the late Roy Whitt, Sr.

of Plains. He was the brother of Donna Bidgood, Edward Whitt, Jennifer Policare and Alison Whitt of Pittston, Susan Strohl of Luzerne, Pamela Whitt of Thornhurst, Sandra Whitt of Lancaster, Debra McCann of Delaware, and Roy Whitt of Plymouth, Pa. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and one grand-niece. Donny will be enormously missed but with the memories of his entire family and friends he will forever be with us and never forgotten. Bettyann Timmons BEACON Bettyann Timmons, 62 years old, of Beacon, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2010 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh. She was born April 9, 1948 in Ossining, NY and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Mary Schumaker Rabe. Bettyann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon.

She loved painting, drawing and doing crafts. She also loved shopping and spending time with her grandchildren; dining with and spending time with the "ya ya's" and she enjoyed her time with family, friends and her sister-in-laws. She is survived by her beloved children, David D. Heady and his wife, Kelly, of Wappingers Falls and Cheryl Lynn Heady Kuka and her husband, Sami, of Beacon; also her step -children, Wendy Mercurio and her husband, William of Wappingers, Raymond Timmons and his wife, Debbie, of Wappingers and Glenn Timmons and his wife, Dawn, of Highland; her brother, Donald E. Rabe and his wife, Cindy, of Holmes, NY; her twelve cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Martin, Herbert and Albert Rabe. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 15th from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Fishkill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct.
